which route across London?
Discussion
I'm driving down to the west country to leave me my car there so I can get home from Sunday's Chase the Sun. My train gets into Paddington and I need to get to London Bridge/Waterloo East but haven't got a clue about navigating across London..gpx would be good or just general directions?!
I find the best route when I'm unfamiliar with the location is to follow signs and not be too clever.
I know some of this route so I'd be looking to do something like PAD > Hyde park corner > constitution hill > the mall > Northumberland ave > embankment > Waterloo bridge. There are loads of routes though.

Enjoying the international station name for Paddington. I know some of this route so I'd be looking to do something like PAD > Hyde park corner > constitution hill > the mall > Northumberland ave > embankment > Waterloo bridge. There are loads of routes though.
Over and out.
whilst I appreciate the effort who have made responding, I still have no clue in which direction to point my bicycle...
If you wanted to get from say..Tunbridge Wells to Sevenoaks and I said, London Road via Southborough, down Quarry Hill, Through the high street until the Hildenborough Junction, bear left and shadow the A21. would that help?
Sorry for the petulant reply last night, I'd had a couple whilst watching the footy :/
I guess I can just head for the shard and make it up as I go.

This is one of many possibilities. Get along Praed St, down Edgware Rd to Marble Arch, down Park Lane to Hyde Park Corner and ride as he suggested. You could just get on the brown line (bakerloo) from paddington which will take you straight into Waterloo in around 9 stops.Save your legs .When you leave Paddington Station on the slope that goes up to the right of WH Smiths, You'll see an Aberdeen Steak House ahead of you on the corner. Go down the road that is immediately to the left of the Steak House. Keep down this road straight across a set of lights and you'll see a mini roundabout.
Left at the mini roundabout in front of the Victoria pub, then turn next right. At the T junction you'll be opposite an entrance to Hyde Park. It's a pedestrian entrance so you really ought to get off your bike and walk through. Once inside the park, turn left and follow the main carriage drive until you get to the Boris Bike stand on the right, which is where you can dogleg right/left and you're on the main cycle path through the park.
This takes you down to Hyde Park Corner, where to need to get diagonally over to the left to go under the arch, then straight on. It's cycle tracks and light crossings all the way. This gets you to the top of constitution hill, where you can either go down the road or through Green Park, there's an entrance on the left. In front of Buck Palace you can go on down the Mall to Trafalgar square or you could go right then left and go down Birdcage Walk, whichever you prefer. If you go Birdcage walk you come out opposite Westminster Bridge, cross that, turn left and its straight to Waterloo on the South Bank.
If you go down the Mall you'll end up at Trafalgar Square and then on down to Waterloo bridge. Personally I prefer the Birdcage walk route, but that's because I'm normally heading to the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza.
