Strava kit? - is it any good? Is it a bit naff?

Completed the 6th Strava Gran Fondo challenge this weekend with a lap of the Fred Whitton course. Strava have told me I can buy a jersey. Bit tempted as ride was for a mate's 40th and so nice momento. What thoughts from PH?

I bought one for Flappy Birds as I was really good at it, and my partner is proud of her Candy Crush (Saga) hoodie.

They were Castelli jerseys, which are from my experience very good quality, however they've moved to cuore, end of the day it isn't a cheap jersey, but you're probably not going to see any others on the road! I am contemplating buying one if one turns up I like.

I'm thinking about getting one - I think they are pretty cool. A lot better than team kit, imo.

Saw my first one yesterday, whilst wearing my PH top. I'm not sure I can judge based on wearing cycling gear from a small part of a forum about cars...

Surely nothing is worse than being a FPKW? It's got to be full tho, the other day I saw a fat guy in full (and I mean full) Team Sky clobber. The bike, the helmet, the gloves, the blue overshoes - everything. Must have been about 16 stone

Now I wouldn't wear the Strava jersey (too tight to part with the cash, TBH) although I would consider a Fred Whitton jersey if I'd completed the Fred.

BUT.

In essence they are saying exactly the same thing - "Look at me, I rode a long way, me!" - at a very similar price. Which is fine. Be proud of your achievements, but don't look down at folk who are proud of something slightly different to the challenge you undertook/respect. Yes, the Fred is longer/further/lumpier than a 130km 'Gran Fondo' you can do anywhere and anytime you like, but if the Strava riders are proud of their achievement, need a new jersey, and like the Strava one enough to want to buy the damned thing, who is anyone else to judge?

Having said that, they're still ever so slightly naff, though

Surely having a strava top/jersey is no different to Ironman/Marathon gear you see people cutting about in? Better than a parkrun t-shirt after all :-)
