New Chainset - what do you think?

9 years old but in basically as new condition and rides beautifully - in fact rather better than new in some respects following a wheel rebuild at Mercian.
Rear is Ultegra 14-25 9 speed, front is a frankly overgeared 52-42-30 which I'll be changing for something that gives me a more sensible (for me) range. I've really narrowed down a couple of options. Deore changer at rear, 105 at front.
First is a Deore triple 48-36-26 which comes with external BB included. Seems like a no-brainer at £54
Second is the Spa cycles own brand (Sugino XD2 based, highly rated) crankset in 48-38-28 flavour. Incl. buying a BB it's the same price as the Deore. Here: http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s...
Is the latter even an option, or should I just get on with it and run an all Shimano set up?

Interestingly I started riding on a tourer with 52-42 and 14-34 (until I pdq moved to 26-36-46 & 14-28). I didn't think that was a very elegant solution then and an 11-34 doesn't seem any better now tbh, hence looking to retain the new close ratio Ultegra rear & chain and replace the oldest component with something that gives me a better set of gears for less weight.
On a like-for-like basis there doesn't seem much in it on price, perhaps slightly cheaper your way, but not by a lot.

They seem well made for £20 and have the Sugino symbol stamped into them.
