Mclaren Venge info???
Discussion
I wondered if anyone knew much about this bike? Is there any owners on here of them?
I did the London to Brighton this year and climbing out of Ditchling Beacon I came up behind a guy on one and had a little chat with him but as I was on a mission to break 2hrs 45 mins I couldn't stop for long. It looked awesome and sounded amazing too, very mechanical.
I wonder how many were sold? How much? Do they still make them? Where could I get one if I had the money to spend?

Almost certainly marketing that you're paying for. As far as I know Cav doesn't even ride that one anymore and has the green CVNDSH one?
If it were me I'd get the S Works version and save a packet for money spent elsewhere. The sound you refer to is almost certainly more to do with the wheelset than the frame.

based on the "expensive second hand bikes hard to sell" thread... I cant honestly see any off the peg bike appreciating in value to be honest regardless of rarity. Even acutal bikes ridden in pro tours by the star riders dont seem too attract a premium unless perhaps, you get one ridden by Froome for example, from a day he was in yellow (thus with the fancy detailing) and signed, possibly...
Buy it to ride it, not for garage jewellery...
I think Primera in Bournemouth had one last time I was idly browsing their website for a cheap S3...

Its more for investment purposes tbh, put in my dining room and stare at it! Ive got a nice bike already just wondered where or if I could get one from. I don't really care what Cav rides then or now, I know its marketing but nevertheless its a lovely bike.
In the flesh they're pretty meh.You won't make money on any pushbike made by Specialized.
Interesting how, within 2 days Pedal Powered has become like the rest of Pistonheads. Someone will be along in a minute to say Venges are at the bottom of the depreciation curve and prices are only on the up. Like an E46 M3 prices will be in orbit in 6 minutes. Soon Bianchi will be the answer to everything in here.
Anyway, Mclaren Venge, a bit meh. Should’ve got a Lambo Impec.

I rode back to the O2 after the Ride 100 this year with a guy on a Maclaren Venge. Not generally a fan of Specialized ( or anything non Italian for that matter) But this bike was rather special. It was running on a pair of 50 section Zipps and had quite a few bespoke parts on the bike. The colour scheme looked great and yes the bike did sound superb rolling along, that real hollow carbon sound. The price......£16,000 and there were a total of 250 made, all numbered. But this bike was apparently one of thirty additional and "exclusive bikes" offered to high end directors/staff at Maclaren. So one would assume £16k +!
Lot of money.....

Saw alot of that on RL, people who'd paid more for one bike than I've spent on last 5 cars combined and they dragged it out for a little charity ride many people would knock out solo any day of the week.Lot of money.....
Wonder how much quicker he was than the chap on the BMX or Boris bikes?
That said- if you are some investment w*nker and can afford £20K toy- why not, I probably would :-)
