Which look less silly?

It's getting to that tricky part of the year where in the morning, shorts are too cold and full length leggings too warm.

What should I do apart from MTFU?

I had 3/4 lengths and really liked them. They eventually died but rather than purchase another pair I went for knee warmers. They are much better imho, and give more flexibility.

I have worn knee warmers almost every day all summer on the way into work. Occasionally I'll lose them for the way home. As above they give many more options than 3/4 lengths, and can be worn with any of your existing pairs of shorts.

3/4s are actually called knickers and therefore are utterly gay.

Got a pair of 3/4 that I find more comfortable than knee warmers, but the knee warmers have the flexibility of removing them, wearing them with existing bibs etc.

I'd go with knee warmers, as nice as the 3/4 are I probably wont get another pair.

I use knee warmers; my theory is that I bought an expensive pair of shorts, so why by another expensive pair (for the comfort etc) when I could just extend my nice ones with knee warmers.

Looking at getting some of those pad-less full length shorts for winter. So wear the nice shorts underneath, but put nice warm leggings (full length) over the top.

^ Defo the way to go with tights, padless. PX were doing their roubaix type for £15 iirc

Knee warmers, much more flexible and cheaper, with the same benefits.

MAN THE @@@@ UP! No need for anything other than shorts for a month yet. And anything with "-warmers" in it's name is just plain WRONG!

3/4s are often made of the same fabric as tights (thicker/fleecier), so are warmer than shorts + warmers.

I go for fleecy unpadded longs. That does me down to 0 deg and I don't ride when there's ice around.

This yes

I'm still in shorts but when it starts getting a bit cooler, I'll add knee warmers and then ride through winter with my 3/4s which are thicker. Hate wearing full lengths and since it's just the lower part of my legs exposed, I don't feel the need.

I wear 3/4s quite a bit during spring and autumn as they seem to stop my 42 year old knees from aching so much. I've tried knee/leg warmers but I just don't find them that comfortable plus they offer no warmth elsewhere.

I still had shorts but a long-sleeved compression top under a short sleeved jersey. Damn cold!

Shorts 12 months a year for me. If your legs are cold you're not pedalling hard enough.

And DON'T, whatever you do, wear full length socks. I keep seeing grown men in London wearing them. Usually on road bikes.

They are girls' socks. For attending private school in. Or playing hockey.

What's going on?
