I've started training for a big event next year and in need of an HRM. I'm currently doing gym and riding so something that could cover both would be ideal. Watches are too expensive.

Any suggestions on one that can link to the iPhone and help me zone train? Don't want to spend fortunes ideally. Say £100 max.

check out the Mio Link which are awesome, or DCRainmakers site for reviews on most fitness gadgets.

Something like the Wahoo HRM strap would work - it's Bluetooth so would work with your iPhone.

I've got a Mio Link and the premise is good, but it's got to go back to Mio as it doesn't, to put it bluntly, work very well.

So after a quick look and a research I think I'm going to go for the Wahoo TICKR.

I like how it's dual band (ANT & Bluetooth) which means I can zone train using my phone (or a cheapo watch monitor) in the gym and - eventually - I'll be able to pair it with a dedicated bike GPS.

Having said that the Mio does look really good.

I used a Wahoo HR strap for 12 months great bit of kit that was only replaced with a Garmin one. Their speed/cadence kits work well, you just need to think about iphone battery life.

Completely agree. I've been spying up a garmin 510 or 800 tho to supplement it.

Another vote for the Mio Link from me. I've been using one since launch and it's very convenient to use, no chaffeing (which can be an issue with chest straps) and it doesn't need to be damp to work (unlike some chest straps). I like that it's really easy to put on, take off and just works perfectly with the iPhone.

PS - Mio has also just launched another couple of wrist mounted HRM's with other features, read about those here:
