Sutton Bank mountain biking

Went over to Dalby Forest yesterday to try a bit of proper mountain biking for the first time, but got there and there was a Motorsport rally on - saw plenty of scoobies and evos on their way over - probably would have been good to watch.
Anyway, all the bike trails were closed so we were advised to head over to Sutton Bank - which was about 20mins drive away. Went there and it was great, did the 17.5 mile red route. The guys working there described sutton bank as a more natural route compared to Dalby - it's mainly out on bridle ways and walkways rather than purpose built bike routes - amazing scenery, riding along cliff tops, over moorland, down rough technical bits over rocks and steps, long steep hills to go down, through beautiful hamlets and farmland and then a fair bit winding through woods and forests.
All in all a great day. Will try Dalby next time. Already have the bug and deciding whether to get a hardtail or full suspension bike. So cheap - if you own your own bike it's £4 or £7 for a full day out!
Coming from road biking it is a great change and different sort of workout.

Thanks for the heads up on Sutton Bank, I had no idea that they'd put in place some connecting trails. I take it that it works over the Cleveland Way for parts of it? Guisborough woods is my closest if I ever get on out the MTB, mainly roads these days but do have a hardtail Genesis which I like to bash about on occasionally. Does it actually start from the car park on the top of the bank?
Post code was YO72EH - took us to a small car park with bike shop and toilets and a cafe - not sure if that's the car park you mean? But yes it's all linked up. I saw signs for those walkways and you follow them and cross them at various points. I think it's relatively new. Can see some people living there getting a bit annoyed because you have to ride through fields with horses and sheep etc in, opening gates and potentially churning up their nice green fields! We also got lost a bit and were stuck riding around some private grounds! The signage was a bit lacking in one area.
No complaints though was great. Saw a lot of wildlife including deer, peasants / grouse, birds of prey, etc
