How do I fix this?

Got a little overconfident on my new MTB last night and had a minor collision with a fence post. Apart from damaging my pride, I caught the brake lever on the fence post and the pushrod has disconnected.






Any ideas how I can sort this out? I've tried pushing it back in to the point of nearly bending the lever. I'm thinking a short tap with a mallet might prove more fruitful but don't want to cause more damage?

The pushrod I think should have a circlip round it which may have fallen off. the circlip should click into the hole on the main body of the brake (with the use of circlip pliers). You either need to get a circlip of the right size or drop it into your local bike shop and they should be able to sort it

Cheers, yes it's pretty obvious now that something is missing. I'll pop it into the LBS tomorrow
