Budget Trek 3500/3700 - Fork Upgrade Options

Hi all,

I'm picking up either a Trek 3500 or 3700 next weekend, they are ex-hire bikes, the 3500's are 2014 bikes and the 3700's are 2013 bikes.

I am looking for an entry level mountain bike and these seemed great, I used one of the 3500's yesterday for the day and it is perfect for my needs.

The SR Suntour forks on these ex-hire bikes aren't great and most are now quite sticky but are not serviceable.

Any suggestions for replacement or upgrade?

How much are you looking to spend?

Just had a look at them treks. New your looking £3-400 with a half decent suspension fork starting around £150 you need to be really getting the hire bike at a very good price. Otherwise you might want to start looking at other options.

£150 for a new suspension unit will still make it cheaper than buying a brand new bike.
