Bike Boxes for 66cm frame

I have a XXXL Canyon Ultimate (66cm officially) and want to bring it to Mallorca for the 312 in April but am struggling to find any box that will fit it. Has anyone got one into any of the normal boxes, Bike Box Alan, Thule Round Trip Transition or even Buxum Box?

All information appreciated as the last thing I want to do is get one and then discover it doesn't fit properly or requires shoehorning to fit. I'm not a great bike mechanic so don't want to be completely assembling the bike the night before the race in a hotel room, by that I mean reattaching derailleurs, chainsets and so on.

It's very unlikely you'll need to remove the chainset. Almost certainly the pedals but not the rest.

I've hired a few boxes and only needed to remove the rear derailleur once. Last one was a Velo Vault which took my ISP frame neatly.



It's a 56cm frame though so no idea if it would take your gigantic bike!

I'm in London, and have a Scicon Aerotech you're welcome to try out. Evidently it will take up to 80cm of seat post (again it states a 62cm limit, but it might be doable).

I only have to take the handlebars and seat off to fit the bike in. Loads of additional space for helmets, shoes, stuff.

Thanks both, I'm in London so may yet take you up on that but am not very hopeful based on what I've seen. The issue is the stack it seems but hopefully some other tall person out there has a 3XL and some information on how to do it!

There are no rental bikes available and I don't fancy the drive for a weekend!

Bike Box Alan will make you one to order (but £££). Also might be worth trying the Canyon box - I can't beleive Canyon would sell a box that didn't fir their own bikes!

Bike box Alan didn't work but I found a Scicon Aerotech and if I remove everything, possibly including the chainset but definitely stem and rear derailleur it will make it by about 1mm!

Chain reaction do an own make one that they claim will take any bike.

It fits my 21" 29er very well with seat still on and has done Asia to Europe and back without issues. Nice bag.

Good stuff. One thing worth doing though, is adding as much padding stuff (jerseys / around the frame as possible). I use the Aerotech, but one of the straps worked loose and the bike shifted and I killed my front derailer thingy. Disconnect Di2 / EPS also (if you have it).

I thought my Trek 64cm was a big bugger. (It already looks like it is on kids wheels until you get up to it.)

What height and inside leg are you OP? It might make my decisions easier when the next bike purchase comes round.

6'5" tall and a 36" inside leg. I highly recommend the Canyon, the Germans just get being tall.
