Snapped Sole Advice!

20 miles into a 70 mile club ride last week , one cleat felt a bit loose , took the shoe off to find I had snapped the sole!
Shoes were "Scott Road Pros" carbon sole and I got them reduced from £115 to £80. Ive had them about 8 months, but only used once a week through summer/spring and this was first outing since October
Bit pissed off, as they haven't had much use and I would expect at least 18 months - 2 years. Bar the dirt they are in really good nick and I really rated them for them to snap is a bit poor
Do you think I have got any comeback against Scott? Emailed their UK customer service and got no reply.
On my commuter I have cheap northwave MTB shoes that have lasted years and years of daily abuse, my spesh shoes have also lasted 3+ years . Both were a lot cheaper but less stiff
Alternatively can anyone recommend some good stiff (stiffer the better) shoes for £80 or under that are great with high arched feet. Thinking the best bet is some Bont Riots?

The most common reason for carbon road shoes failing is walking in them. I learnt the hard was with my s-works shoes. I put on cleat covers and walk the short distance from the bike shed to my desk at work and the carbon soles failed very quickly. I coulds not understand why until I looked closely at how I walked in them. The toe of the shoe just touches the ground, which obviously stresses the sole in a way they were never ment to. worth checking if there are signs of toe contact on youre shoes (if you walk in them) as any shop/ manufacture will just say that you have miss used them
Interesting, there is loads of toe contact, in fact the toe outer cover has worn down a bit
But , I never really walk in them, bar 5 metres from the house to the road that's it
However I think the toes were wearing down as I have to stand on tip toes when I stop at lights on the bike to balance as my legs wont touch the floor on the saddle

Cheers guys, Scott told me to contact retailer, whom I went to and they have done a warranty claim and said a bank statement would be ok to confirm date. Will wait and see what they say, shame a really good shoe bar the snap!
Back using my old Specialized SPD Sl shoes, bit too big in comparison and I really notice the less stiffness on the 15% + climbs out the saddle, but I think the extra stone round my waist affects that more!
