Find me a bike!

Managed to get myself a place in the Ride100, supporting The 999 Club, and need to train, nothing better than the commute to do it on...
However, if I'm going to do it that way I need a bike, I no longer have bike parking at the office and will need to leave it chained outside, near Moorgate, from 6am to 7pm...my current bianchi (although only entry level) would get nicked within a week. At home the bike will also live outside in the communal parking (rough area - bianchi in the hallway already) and needs to survive a 30 mile round trip up to 4 days a week...
Given this bike is going to get ruined I'm looking second hand and wanting to spend as little as possible...a Fix is no good as I've got hills en-route
Any suggestions for what to look for/anybody know of an ok-ish road bike for sale near Orpington?
