Canyon road bikes , advice needed svp.

I'm there will be people with more knowledge along in a mo, but in summary:
Pros - Very very good spec for price, look good (IMO).
Cons - Unable to sit on before ordering to ensure it fits. Some people have had issues with long waiting times and poor communication.
My next road bike will be a Canyon I think, though I will ensure I can sit on one before I buy it (at a bike show or borrow a friends).

German manufacturer, as others have said, online sales only unless you pay a trip to their retail outlet in Germany.... There are enough of them in the UK though for you to ask on a few forums for someone local to try sizes or just ask nicely at a sportive if you see one in a rack at the start, feed or end!
They always get good reviews from owners and the press, they are very well spec'd for the money, they have a big purcahsing capability and obviously online sales only keeps the costs down and are ridden by two world tour teams with a lot of success. I have a friend with a CF SLX who loves it and I think Gruffy is rather taken with his Aeroad too.... I'm sure there are far more happy customers than the odd scare story about bad comms. The lead times are stated on the website for each model as it varies but I would expect them to be getting busier now the UK market is well established and the sun is out....

Unusual sizing in that they have a shorter top tube than most frames of similar size plus they spec a short stem so you'll probably have to change it like i did. Unfortunately this means sending the old one back to Canyon and them sending out a new one which slows things down a bit. Plus steerer tube width is 1 1/2 inch rather than more conventional 1 1/8th so you won't be able to go and but a stem off your LBS.
The online sizing system is weird too. I'm 6ft 2 and ride a 58cm, the online system said I'm a 56cm which would have been way off, in fact the 58cm felt a tad too short and next time I'd go 60cm.
Great light bikes with loads of innovative features and great spec. My Ultimate Al sadly bite the dust after the down tube got dented in an accident and then cracked. The metal is super thin in places and doesn't take knocks well but that said I'd have another.

A 56 UAL measures 54.5 c-c with a 54.9 TT and comes with a 100 mm stem. It's standard stage geo. Nothing unusual there. That would be small for someone 6'2", yes. Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
