What's the PH collectives take on BMC?
It's a brand I've never considered before but a BMC rider almost won the Pari Roubaix on Sunday.
I've been looking for a new sportive bike with disc brakes and last week had the opportunity to compare the Norco Search and Cannondale Synapse. I would have also tried the GT Grade but there's no stock in the UK at the moment. Prior to the test ride I started reading up on the BMC Granfondo GF01, found out the shop had one in stock so arranged to try that as well.
Out of the three, the bike that impressed me the most was the BMC, so much so that I've ordered one. Straight a way I was impressed with the ride quality and the way that it soaked up the road buzz. Somehow BMC have come up with a design that is very comfortable, solid, stable and compliant, whilst still being lively when you stomp on the pedals.
For those that have debated on another thread, why bother with a test ride?
If I hadn't I would have never bought the best bike I've ever ridden and if buying on spec (not something I will do) would have probably bought the Cannondale, purely on reputation and reviews.
All of the bikes I tried were good, but I could feel the differences between them very quickly.

Just bought one myself yesterday. I agree totally. Went to look at it not buy. Was blown away by the quality of the ride, truly incredible. First ride today and smashed previous Strava PB's without too much effort. And what a frame... The same the pros use! It's like a Rolls Royce on the road with the performance of an Aston.
I hovered over a couple of BMC models in Evans, Guildford, before I ended up buying my Trek. The only reason I bought the trek over the BMC was that it seemed to be a better fit for me.
One great feature of the BMC, according to the 'Bike of the Year' review, is that you are on EXACTLY the same frame as the pro riders. There's no step-down to an inferior carbon fibre lay-up or grade, so it's a frame well worth upgrading over the long term...

I suspect that now it's the Bikeradar bike of the year it'll long be sold out before Evans do any tempting end of season discounts.When people start what bike threads and then post three options, all of which are fundamentally the same spec and designed for the same thing be it sportives, commuting or racing, most people just say get the one you like the look of as thats the one you will enjoy riding and thus ride it more often... I take pride in the asthetics of my bikes just as much as their abilities. My next bike will most likely be a metal frame, feature round tubes and be just as good as its carbon equivilent. I couldnt bring myself to buy an ugly looking bike even if it was the absolute best in class, being a fat biff, the prettier bike thats second in class is more than adequate for me.

It most certainly did. Oddly enough it was only an also ran last year. Apparently, according to Cycling Plus, the 2015 version is a new bike.Papman said:

That's the other thing that influenced my decision; getting the same top of the range carbon frame/fork that the pro's use. I've been told many times to always get the best quality frame you can; everything else can easily be changed or upgraded later. I'm really looking forward to getting the bike and start riding it.pablo said:
I'm sure it does ride well but it is quite easily the ugliest bike I've ever seen!
Everyone to their own, but I think it looks great. I've gone for the Di2 version and BMC have done a great job of hiding all of the cables. Even the front brake hose runs internally through the headtube and fork leg, resulting in very clean lines.
