Places to take a 10 year old (around Bucks)

Looking for some help finding some gentle, safe routes to go out and explore with our 10 year old daughter. She's ok on roads, but not very confident, so at the moment I think I'd like somewhere we can take bikes, ride, put bikes back on car without any road work.

Going to Black Park this afternoon, anyone got any other recommendations?

Berks but Dorney lake or Windsor park are nice

Black Park, definitely. Fond memories cycling round there as a child.

Burnham Beeches

Drive down to Marlow/Bourne End and you can cycle along the Thames side path.

Did a very gentle 8 miles around Black Park this weekend and took her to Moors Valley last weekend for a slightly harder (for her) 11 miles.

Have you considered the Phoenix Trail in Thame? Where in Bucks are you?

The Phoenix Trail was my first thought. Wide, flat and child friendly. Only problem is that parking can be difficult when it is busy. Wave if you see me going past with a Pistonheads jersey on.

How about Swinley?

It might be bit far but you've got all of the fire roads to ride around and then there's the green MTB trail which might be ideal for you.

I take mine around Waddesdon Manor and over to Stone on the closed roads, very nice and traffic free other than the odd working vehicle and cyclists

All good suggestions. Phoenix Trail very easy for a 10yo but a nice day out.

Wendover Woods a good shout too, bit hillier than Black Park or Burnham Beeches but should be well within a 10yo's capabilities (my 4yo did it with a bit of whining ).

Ashridge and Langley Park also worth a visit.

Bit further, but consider a run down to Virginia Water, a nice 4 or 5km loop.

Sounds nice, it is allowed? It's near to me so worth a visit with my family, but just checking the map it doesn't seem to be a bridleway? It is pedestrian right of way only?

Yes, certain parts are rights of way but a lot isn't marked up as so. I live just over the hill in Westcott so cycle all the roads all the time with the exception of the driveways up to the residences which are marked private only.

A lot of cycle/tri clubs use them too, I've never been challenged out there, pretty friendly as long as you're sensible.

How about the Look Out in Bracknell? Used to head over there occasionally when I lived in Wycombe. Having said that as I lived behind the Rye I often ended up doing circuits of that or Kingsmead.
