Cheapest way to get back on the road?

After 8 years of loyal service I think I've killed my frame.
It is/was a Scott CR1 and despite the pain we've had some great times together, until foe some reason yesterday the mech ended up in the spokes and has badly bent the drop out in two directions (back and out).
Intial research makes me think that it's not changeable but my LBS are in contact with Scott to see if they have any recommendations.
It may be possible to bend it back but even so that will reduce its' strength in the long term.
So, i need a new frame, i've always been an advocate of riding loads and picking the best but wondering if there's any point or should i just go for another Scott CR1.
So, are there other bikes i should seriously consider?
And will it be cheaper for me to buy a whole bike or just a frame and then fit everything from the broken bike?
