I don't use them. If I'm thirsty, I drink water. I eat food if needed.

Mostly Wiggle really. The high 5 stuff seems to work for me and tastes good, but I've had no issues with any product I've tried.

High 5 from Wiggle here too. Seem to be on permanent 'sale' at £3 for a tube of 20 tablets (or something like that).

I had some Etixx powder the other day as a freebie and it was actually delicious. Most powders and gels I've had are nasty but these were tasty in orange form

The Gatorade G series pro 02 which is a carbs+electrolye mix or the SiS Go Electrolyte, I like both and haven't stomach issues with either.

I used to use the powders, but only whatever was available in the likes of Tesco/Sainsbury's/Boots. Which was mostly Lucozade powder. Then I ran out and couldn't find any for a while, and swapped to squash. Hi-Juice to begin with, but now I've gradually weaned myself off the 'expensive' squash too, and am on Sainsbury's own-brand double concentrate. I pre-mix large bottles of the stuff and keep it in the fridge, so there's never an issue with not having a really cold drink ready to decant into my bike bottles.

Same with the bars. I have a few bars and gels I got as freebies at races and events, and always take them "in case of emergencies", but I normally take a few Jordan's/Kelloggs cereal/breakfast bars (nutritionally VERY similar numbers to the expensive 'sports' bars wink ) and some cash to stop for proper food. If I know I'm going to be away from civilisation for a long ride, I sling some sandwiches in a bag and put them in a jersey pocket. I can't really eat 'on the bike' anyway, so 'Powerbars' and suchlike offer little in the way of convenience for me, personally.

Strawberry Rego is just about bearable, really have to neck it and not think about it. I have wondered about trying to add some Nesquik milkshake syrup to it to make it more palatable. The High5 Citrus tastes ok though and I usually just chuck in a bit of cordial with it to help it along, never really liked the 'taste' of plain water so having a couple of tablets spare in the saddle bag is useful when you need to top up your bottles. The Berry flavoured caffeine ones are rank though also tried some Cola flavoured tablet I got free in a sportive a couple of weeks ago and it was like drinking watery, flat coke...

Food-wise usually take a couple of SIS gels and some cheap muesli bars to eat on the bike and for longer rides a few slices of buttered malt loaf in cling film. Like Yellowjack said, I can't see any benefit in paying over the odds for expensive bars when cheap ones are almost nutritionally identical. Really got a taste for the apple flavoured gels, tastes like apple pie filling and are actually quite nice.

Lidl have a load of the High5 stuff on sale this weekend, gels & powders, at least my local one does. Thought it may be useful for someone.
