I'll try and lay this out as clear as possible without any inference or angles.

I bought a bike online from a reputable dealer using v12 finance, the initial transaction was done via the dealers portal which linked to the v12 site for details and approvals.

The screw up on the terms really sucks.

I'm guessing the online retailer are the one who've given me a Haribo addiction. They do 30 day returns on bikes that have been ridden, which would be your way out if V12 don't accept that it was their mistake and see sense. Hopefully they will though when you get to speak to the manager :fingers crossed:

It's not them and btw Tredz give two bags which I find quite amusing.
Deadlines on cancellations is my main concern, I may need to move fast and cancel something rather than await consensus.

What documentation did they provide? What about all the figures along the way? Presumably you saw 36 instalments at the right level?

That's likely to be the crux of any discussion magic, my second post contains all the info i have. there were links to documents in the first few, those have now expired and are un-viewable.
the entire pantomime started with me checking my emails for details of our agreement, finding none and thus phoning them for confirmation.

Ok. With no docs or screen grabs along the way it leaves you quite exposed. I'm surprised you can get through all that process without these days.

I think between them the retailer and the finance place can sort this. They can cancel the 12 month one and you apply for a fresh 36 month agreement. Shop sells the bike, finance place makes money and customer is happy.

It would seem from the consumer sites that the right to withdraw period from a 'distance marketing' finance agreement is 14 days from entering into it. But that doing so may leave you with the bike to pay for in full, which would be even worse (if indeed that's the case).

I'd try to get through to the Citizens' Advice people first thing on Monday morning 03454 04 05 06

Feeling for you on this one.

Whilst I can understand your feeling that you don't want to leave the vendor holding the ball, don't forget that it was the vendor who arranged to use this finance company in the first place!

I'd approach them with two options...

1. Move me to the 36 month finance agreement originally expected.

2. I'll return the chipped bike, cancel the 12 month agreement then buy another bike, this time making sure it's on a 36 month agreement.

Do they really want the hassle of option 2, when option 1 would be simple?

I'm awaiting calls tomorrow from both companies, the vendors IT team are looking into what options I selected and the finance companies management who I've escalated it to don't work weekends.
Fingers crossed everyone can do the obvious sensible thing and nobody plays computer says no.
I have until Thursday to cancel the finance which is also a day I will be within 50 miles of the vendor to meet face to face if necessary.
What a start to my holibobs, sigh.

All resolved and the vendor has been superb throughout, they got hold of the finance company and ironed it all out on my behalf.
You never really get to know how good the customer service is somewhere until a problem arises and you see how it is dealt with.

Ubyk Oxford, you've been great!

edited out all the nitty gritty
