Morning,

I've the pleasure of spending a week in a hotel in Milton Keynes all of next week. I'm aware there's some riding at Woburn and wondered how long the trail is and is it worth me taking my bike?

Thanks.

Mr Gearchange is your man!

If you do, be careful. They put a warning out last yesterday via facebook that there has been trial vandalism with logs put across trails under leaf fall, broken glass and wire traps.

Woburn Sands itself is a joy - good trails, but they did put out the warning yesterday. It does cost to ride if a warden sees you, so take some money. It's not difficult, and esy to find your way around (I went there by myself first time).

I only really ride the bike park these days - but if DH trails and throwing yourself off big drops / gaps is your thing then it's pretty awesome.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'll tackle a Blue and an easy Red DH run but not much more than that. I've limited ability and only 140mm of travel. I've done all the blue's and red's at BPW, and soiled myself on 2 of the blacks.

How long is the XC route in time and distance?

Thanks.

MaxTorque is your man for the XC stuff - I've since given up on pedalling much preferring to use gravity and physics to get me around these day (I'm really unfit) However, the XC trails are really very good with some lovely technical sections and plenty of proper singletrack
I'm sure he'll be along shortly to dispense advice..

Sounds like I'll take myself off there one night next week, daylight depending.

Considering the clocks go back Sunday, you'll be struggling for daylit evenings next week...

I'm hoping the week long course I'm on will finish at 4/4.30 which might give me enough time. Fingers crossed.

Sorry, i've somehow missed this one till now!

I'd suggest taking a close look at the Strave Heatmap for the area, which will give you a very good idea of the trail network. There is a LOT of off-piste stuff, so keep you eyes open as you cycle down the main wide tracks. Look for little gaps in trees etc, follow your nose!

If you park up in this layby:

A5130_layby

then you'll have direct access to the main center part of the trail network. The jumps area is about 200m north of that next to the A5130, and you can explorer trails on both east / west side of the A5130.

The best trails are actually in the "back woods" on the Brickhill side, but much harder to find, so i'd recommend starting with the main bit.

By next weeks evenings, it'll be pretty dusky in the woods even if it's not fully dark, so some lights will really help you avoid all the stumps/lumps/bumps etc!
