What 2nd hand HT for a 13yr old girl - up to around £300

Afternoon all,

Having built up an On-One Inbred for my son's 10th birthday, his older sister has now decided that she wants to come trails riding with us as well, and that her Islabike really isn't up to scratch - not least because she ended up with absolutely zero brakes in the pissing rain and mud at Ashton Court last Saturday.

Building up her brother's bike involved handing down various components of mine, though, and my wife's not going to let me get away with that little trick again, so this time round I'm after a second hand ready built bike. We'll sell the Islabike, and I'd like to keep things as budget neutral as possible, so I'm aiming for around £300, up to maybe £400 absolute max.

In terms of spec, I'm thinking...

- Hydraulic discs
- 100-120mm travel forks
- 1x10 or 2x drivetrain
- As light as possible for the price

She's around 5'2" at the moment, so I'm thinking extra-small or small (and possibly women's specific) adult frames should be about right?

Good luck I spent ages looking but bought new in the end., you should look out for an Islabike Craig 26, they only made them for a year or two, they have hydraulic discs and rockshock forks and a 1x10 gear set up all on a sub 10kg bike. they go for between £400 to £500. alternatively look at the Canyon Aluminium hardtail that comes in at about £500 and they do a womans specific frame, Scott do a nice womans MTB at a similar price or maybe a specialized Myka?

How about scouring Ebay and the like for a well specced bike at the best price without worrying about frame size (gives you a longer list of potentials)

Then transfer all the parts over to a new on-one frame of the right size.

This is pretty much what a mate has done to build a nice bike for his lad.

Not exactly what you're after, but brand new with no worn out bits or damage to worry about for around £370.
