We were discussing the fact that there may be up to £30k of bikes casually deliberately leant up against the wall when were are enjoying post-ride coffees, and only one or two of us bother to secure them, even nominally, against an opportunistic thief.
Carting a £100, 3kg lock and chain around 100km ride is obviously not an option, and probably not even necessary - after all the bikes are never really out of eyesight, we just need to deter the more desperate scrotes from even trying their luck (I'd like to see one try and get away from a determined club rider giving chase on another bike, but that's a different matter!)
I was thinking there must be a nice, light, compact cable lock that would fit in a saddle bag or pocket but there doesn't seem to be a go-to option.
Any suggestions?

Ski or snowboard locks. I have one that is a thin coiled cable attached to a little combination lock, for the times when my bike might be out of my sight for a minute while I nip into a shop.
They're only a deterrent to anyone without any tools (even the snips on a basic multitool would probably go straight through it) but better than nothing and very light.

It's small and light, and wouldn't stop anyone with any tools, but it'd be more effective than no lock at all for the two minutes it takes to go inside and order coffee and cake. You could carry it in a jersey pocket but I pass the velcro mounting straps of my saddle pouch through it and sits underneath.
