A lovely ride until.....
Discussion
So tonight cycling through sidcup on my usual route, I get to a mini roundabout ready to turn right, once my path is clear I cycle off, to my left i can see a group of mopeds, maybe 6 or so, as I clear he roundabout and head on my way the lead rider starts F-ing and blinding saying what was I doing.
A few heated seconds and me saying "I had right of way", I was surrounded by the group, while I was I still riding. I was more conscious about my escape route if needed, luckily they started to ride off, apart from the last moped rider, or his pillion trying to grab my handle bar, luckily they didn't get a proper grip and I managed to swerve towards the left a little managing to be just out of reach of the muppet.
I was lucky, as it could of been a lot worse, and not sure why I have expressed it here, but it makes me feel a little better for doing it.
Stay safe out there

I feel your pain OP, glad you managed to stay upright!
I had similar recently , except the pricks were on bikes, I went out on an evening ride, late night quiet town roads a group of about 8 youfs all on bikes without lights turned into the road I was turning into (I had priority) I didn't even see them, they all had no lights, I was then in the middle of them with them trying to act all intimidating, I just kept on going straight regardless and clipped a couple of wheels which almost sent one off, they were a bit pathetic really and they're gonna get themselves killed as they were impossible to see. Too be fair one lad at the back shouted "oii get out his way you " to his mates! Although one of his mates was doing a gun impression with his hand to me, ffs!! Its a village in Wiltshire, not the bronx!
On another occasion a moped pulled along side me, revved up, gestured to me and the passenger and pillon high fived me, thumbs up'd and then sped off! Bit odd, but made me laugh

I had an incident a while ago with a moped rider, for no reason whatsoever he overtook me and then cut in to a layby and skidded to a stop, it was very close. I called him all the choice words I could think of, but I wished I'd gone back and kicked him off it.
I don't trust them; they tend to be ridden by little s
ts who think the world owes them a living and they know bugger all about anything.

I am currently waiting a call back from the local neighbourhood team, but I'm not holding my breath
Probably right not to hold your breath.I had an 'incident' with three of these tossers riding up Box hill after the road closures were lifted on the 'Ride London' day this year.
I was just tootling up the zig-zag at about 7.30pm when three mopeds being erratically ridden and revving inappropriately were suddenly behind me, swerving back and forth across the road, shouting unintelligible crap at me. I believe they were trying to make out that I was holding them up. Then, one by one, they zipped past, each trying to get as close as possible, and the second of the three leaning over so that the pillion could try to reach for my bars. I gave then the middle finger and called them something unpleasant, thinking it was just the two. Then the third rider went past, and had obviously seen my reaction, giving me the "slit yer throat" mime as he passed.
I was almost hoping to see them waiting at the top, but the presence of a Police van probably prevented that. I spoke to the two officers in the van, and they took what description I could give, but nothing came of it as far as I knew. Plates partially obscured by 'L' plates taped on, and "skinny, chavvy scrotes" doesn't exactly help the Police, as that describes most youngsters on cheap mopeds.
And to add to the wayward cyclists without lights tale? A darkly dressed, hooded figure, on a MTB with neither lights nor reflectors, riding on the wrong side of the road near to midnight. I shout "get some lights mate, and you're riding on the wrong side" or words to that effect. He simply calls me a "
" and threatens to kill me. I hooned off, slowing to let him cut the gap, before speeding up again, repeating the cycle until he quit chasing me. That was pretty funny, to be fair.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
