13 Incline Alpha

As the title states im thinking of buying a 13 Alpha as a start into the mountain biking world.
I used to be a roadie, I say used to be as I haven't sat on my old Giant Defy 4 for 5 years. It took me from Lands end to John O' Groats with nothing other then maintenance and 1 inner tube. I haven't been on that bike since thou due to an operation I needed a few weeks after which I believe was down to this.
Anyway I am always longing to get on a bike and I feel like a mountain bike would be the best thing for me at the moment. I want to ride canals, woods, tracks and the odd trail with Cannock 20 miles away. Im not going back on my road bike because I don't want to tackle the vehicles.
So as above is the 13 a good intro into mountain biking. Im not fussed about the bike set up that Halfords offer as I can do this myself, but with 120mm Air sprung suspension, 27.5 wheels, 27 gears and hydraulic disc brakes it seems a real bargin.
Can anybody explain the rubbish reviews on the Clark brakes? The are disc plus hydraulic. My road bike has the simple blocks and stops easy, even in the wet.

I ended up buying it and so far its been good. The brakes don't seem to have the stopping power I was expecting from Discs but I have read they take a while to bed in. I havn't locked them up yet or gone over the handlebars.
Looked at one of these and a Hoodoo today and I'm going to go for the Incline, it looked nicer and apparently the forks are better and it's cheaper to replace the brakes than the forksFurryExocet said:

Cheers for the code. I'm struggling to get the vouchers ordered, as Chrome/Mozilla/IE both reject the site, saying its not secure and my verified by visa won't work on it, been trying for the last 1hr!!!I ended up with 10% on the 13 with BC membership.
As you say the brakes are cheaper to upgrade then the forks but for now the brakes do to what I require them to do. It was the air forks that swung it for me though. I am still happy with the bike and as you say it looks good (to me anyway). I have not gone near a trail yet so im just doing light XC stuff while I get my fitness levels back up and confidence back. Also the saddle seems ok, I havn't had butt ache yet.

Have you been out on it yet? I have a rare to me weekday off tomorrow so im going to Cannock chase. Part of me thinks just spend the morning on the blue trail but with it being a Monday and hopefully quiet I think I will hit the trails.I may do both but it depends how my ass feels after the blue novice trail.
