Hi guys,
I need a new bike! Limited budget, £500 - £600 vtops.
Needs to do 100mile weekly commute, a monthly 75 - 100 mile blast and be able to tootle around with the kids.
I did have two bikes, a marin mtb but i managed to bend it today and a carrera road bike which isnt economical to fix.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
Marcus

Surely the Carrera would be an economical fix within the budget?

Second hand surely best at that price. I got an 18 month old Specialized Allez Sport a couple of months ago, to use as winter bike for club rides. Added some £100 Aksium wheels and now liking it almost as much as my carbon bike.

I got mine through my bike club, people always upgrading, bargains to be had.

I think you are going to struggle doing 500 miles a month with £500.00 bike

With that kind of usage the bits on a budget bike will need replacing soon.

That kind of milaeage on any bike bits will need replaceing. I had a Carrera Virtuoso (£300) for 5 years and commuted every day on it without issues, roughly 300 + miles. Changed the usual, tyres, chain and cassette when needed and put a decent saddle on it. If you look after it, it will look after you.
