If you get the chance to get to one of these (http://pages.rapha.cc/events/uk-sample-sales) they're well worth it.
I've just picked up a "Hard shell" for £90 (rrp £260) and a "Rain Jacket" for £50 (rrp £180), plus socks for £7 Wind" for £7 (RRP £15)!
It's a bit of a lucky dip and on your knees sorting through plastic crates of clothes but the savings are worth it!

I'm sure everyone will be along soon to say "you get what you pay for" and "I'm worth it " etc but my view is everyone looks like a dick in cycling gear already what's the point in spending hundreds more, just to look a dick in more expensive cycling gear.
"It's far better than cheaper stuff" - no that's all in your head.
"It's the repairs service" - why does it need repaired?
"I'll only go cycling if I've got expensive stuff" - fair enough.

Yes, my bromidic gags about cheap cycling clobber will keep coming - I don't get Rapha as a brand myself, i.e. I get it, but I don't want to be part of it, but I can see the appeal of good clobber. I actually got the email about this the other day so going to head to Leeds when its on there to see what there is. I need a new waterproof jacket but even I begrudge forking out £200 for one. #tightass

Well they do. Have you ever heard a woman say she likes the look of blokes in cycling gear? Have you ever seen a cyclist calendar full of blokes in their 30s and 40s in cycling gear? No? I expect there will be the odd fetishist, in the same way that some people like little toy unicorns or dressing up as babies. I love cycling and make an attempt to not look like a total arse on my bike but nobody looks good in road bike cycling gear. Helmet, Lycra, funny shoes, no chance.

At birmingham they had quite a large space with different sizes in different area we weren't looking in the small, medium or womens parts but they lloked to have as many crates as the large and xtra large areas..I actually got the email about this the other day so going to head to Leeds when its on there to see what there is. I'm female and I definitely think SOME guys look good in cycling gear - incidentally this tends to be Rapha. The items are well cut, well made, simple graphics etc. I also wear Rapha myself. There is such a massive difference compared to most other brands. Some guys aren't ever going to look good whatever they wear.
As an aside, the smell of a guy wearing Rapha chamois cream is so much nicer than those that stink.

People wearing the right clobber for the task look good. The ones wearing the wrong clobber look crap. It's pretty simple. If you've got a good athletic figure then you'll look great in Lycra, if you haven't, then you really won't. I expect El Stovey is in the latter camp, since I don't know anyone that cycles well and hence has a good physique, who thinks they look bad in Lycra. I also don't know anyone who is a poor cyclist and has a blobby body who thinks they look good.

Classic confirmation bias. Typical on a thread about cycling and even more so on one about Rapha. I think I have made myself pretty clear.
I'm not saying I don't look good in cycling gear and other do. I'm saying nobody does. Not because I'm fat, 'm 6ft 3 body fat % 10.5. weight 195lbs. but feel free to think I am in an attempt to make yourselves feel better.
How does anyone seriously think male cyclists look good? It's not just about wearing Lycra, you're also wearing a silly helmet and sunglasses plus tight shorts that make your crotch stick out. You don't look good, stand there in your best Rapha and ask your partners or non cycling friends. Really you don't.

Of course, I'm only talking about the roadie gear really. Helmets bibshorts tights etc. The sort of stuff blokes don't normally wear. I wear it on a bike but don't think tight shorts that show your crotch or tights generally look great on men. Anyway each to their own, some people clearly think they look good in cycling gear, I don't.
