Zipp hub recall - FYI.......
Discussion
Popped into my LBS today and in conversation they mentioned I needed to bring my Zipp 303 front wheel back in as there is a recall on all V6, V7 and V8 front hubs - basically any Zipp front wheel with an external lock ring covering the spoke enclosure. Apparently this is following a fatality in the US where the ring came adrift from the housing and the spokes broke loose causing the front wheel to collapse.
Official recall notice here - in large bold letters; 'If your bike has a ZIPP 88v6, 88v7 or 88v8 aluminum front hub, PLEASE STOP RIDING YOUR BIKE'
The front ring on one of mine popped off about 18 months ago, I didn't really think much of it at the time and sent it back to SRAM who re-fitted it, in retrospect I may have been lucky to spot it was missing.....

My 202 has to go back. I contacted fishers and they said to get any shop with an account to send it in. Given that I'm not the original owner and I've rather fallen out with my LBS, this could be fun.
I will definitely not be thrilled if I'm expected to cover the postage costs. Any links to the Time Trial threads?

I think if they offer you warranty cover, as you are not the original owner, you should be thrilled.

It's not warranty though, the hub is fully functional at the moment, it's a safety related design flaw much like a recall on a car and when they're suggesting people ought to immediately stop riding the wheels then it is clearly not trivial. This is the second recall Zipp have done on the hubs of astronomically priced wheels. "Speed Weaponry" indeed.W00DY said:
