I finally spent hours properly setting up the bike, fitting a new saddle and tyres then cleaning and lubing.Just went out for a shakedown ride only 1hr but in that hour I experienced what I can only describe as cycling nirvana. The bike felt smooth as silk and I was more comfortable than I have ever felt before even riding in the drops which I never do.Anyway just had to share it as I have been close but never experienced this level of joy before.

The joys!biggrin

Bought a Emonda SL6 WSD for my other half ... collected Friday, 72 mile ride Saturday. She moaned for 40 miles ... although in her defence, she loves the bike it fits her really well but the saddle doesn't suit her in the slightest (a Bontrager Ajna Comp) looks like will will need swapping back to a Sella Italia womens saddle which she's been v happy with.

What kind of riding were you guys doing?

Sore bum and aching knees - kinky.

I occasionally get the "cycling nirvana" feeling - everything (tailwind, slight downhill, scenery, sunshine) seems to come together for a few moments. Those are the moments which get you out of the door in January in a hailstorm, so try to fix them in your mind!

Over the last 24 hours I've eaten a massive amount. Today, belly full of steak & chips for lunch, and garlic bread & pizza for tea, I headed off on my MTB do do penance for my gluttony.

Feeling like a beached whale I hit a few segments, and only went and knocked 4 seconds off my PR on one particular segment, regaining a KOM I lost just yesterday into the bargain. No idea how that works, I had stomach ache and was breathing through me 'Arris. Nice though, and a thoroughly enjoyable ride through the gathering dusk into proper darkness.
