GIANT Roam 2 2015 ; any good?

Hi guys

My son has just grown out of his 2008 Giant MTX 250 that I bought used in Devon. It's been a fantastic bike for him and he has loved it, however it's got too small, to the point he needs an adult size 16'' bike. I have looked at the Specialized Crosstrail but he's not too keen on it. However we love the idea of a hybrid Giant Roam 2, so is it worth getting it or the same price non-disc Roam 3?

I've got a new Roam 1 I think it's worth the extra over the 2. V happy so far, have just snapped a spoke tho which I've never done before on other bikes so a shame, so will see how it goes warranty wise.

He fancies a Cannondale Quick CX-5 with Schwalbe semi slicks for the same price but they don't have hydraulic discs that the Giant has? I know they are good but are they worth an extra 100 quid for them? We are not avid cyclists but frequent weekend riders
