I can see the benefits of a camera now

Been back on the bicycle for nearly two weeks. Losing some weight, getting good exercise, seeing the countryside again etc. Most of my rides are undertaken on country lanes, away from the populace.

This morning, however, I wanted a change of scenery so took a route that meant I headed through my local town. This was before and around 9am, so wasn't too busy. Everything was going ok until the return leg of a few miles. There was a bit of fkwittery by car drivers going on this morning, but two things stood out.

First incident was some dithering old fool in a Rover. Despite the other side of the carriageway being empty, he decided to pass me with as little room as possible. As he shot past, I felt the vehicle glance past my right arm and leg. Idiot.

Second incident really made me angry. I was approaching a junction and was in the lane (right hand in this instance) that is used for heading straight over. The left lane is for turning that way only. As I'm within the lane a van squeezes past my right side really, really close. As I'm looking at what is happening, I realise the van has a large metal trailer attached to it. As this is passing me, the fking idiot behind the wheel decides he needs to be in the left lane, so he simply cuts across me. I swerve to the left and the metal trailer misses me by inches. He or she then proceeds through the junction and guns it down the road. He or she probably didn't see me gesticulating, and I can't remember the number plate as it was foreign.

Based on this, and a few other notable acts of stupidity, I can see why someone would invest in a camera setup. It isn't going to stop the collision if one happens, but there will be recorded evidence of what happened.

It's a shame that some people who utilise cameras (in vehicles and on bikes) try to make situations worse. I know some seem to enjoy 'making a point' or even causing a collision to show how stupid people have been. However, when I'm on the bike, I'm not interested in 'making a point' with a vehicle as there is only one outcome. It would be nice to have something recorded though, if a collision did indeed happen. The level of driving and cycling standards around now are absolutely ridiculous. I feel it has got to a point where I need to get something setup.

Not everyone is an idiot, but the potential for idiots to hurt are much greater when on the bicycle.

Takes a 64gb sd card so it's good for around 4 hours memory & the camera without the light on lasts 10 hours.

The quality is not as good as the my Gopro hero 4 but the battery life is the key thing with this product.
