Decent home insurance to cover a 1k bike, garden bike stora
Discussion
Edit: was supposed to read >1k bike, stripped it from the title though!
Can anyone recommend any? DirectLine and John Lewis have been recommended to me, but they come on about £400 more than Comparison sites are offering my home insurance for, so I may as well get a separate. More comprehensive bike policy.
Something that could cover the bike in a locked summerhouse would be good, as my garage is a long way from my house so not that comfortable leaving it there.

The proof of the pudding is when it comes to claim.
My bike is kept in the house and office - outside of that its wheels keep turning. So theft for me was less of a risk - I was worried about loss as a result of an uninsured driver - driver who doesn't stop etc etc.
Having just done our renewal - NFU was expensive but their reputation speaks for itself. Aviva was cheap at something like a tenner for a £2k bike. Churchill wanted more and was the historical insurer - they dropped the price to Aviva levels after a quick word in their ear.
My concern - you mention summerhouse. Glass windows - high visibility etc etc. Would it still be covered or fall foul of T's & C's ?

Floor anchor + big lock around bike + big lock on door. Cheaper than insurance and visible to thieves. With all due respect they won't try to hard for a bike on its own.
If they target your bike at home it's because they have seen the bike around and worked out where you live so make it hard for them. If it's visible in the summer house, cover it or put curtains up etc.
