Avid BB7 S Road or alternative?

I'm planning on replacing my current (rubbish) BB5 set up and was planning on swapping for BB7Ss. Any thoughts? what else should I consider. is there a significant improvement from BB7 to BB7s?

TRP Spyre or Hy/Rd, or Hylex with bar end shifters/Di2. The older Shimano R-series brakes also will fit post-mount frames which I believe you have. The newest Shimano are flat mount only and you can't 'adapt' a post mount frame to that standard, I think.

There is some good info online about optimizing BB5 set up, I've got mine about as good as they get. The amount of cable pull needed to make them start braking is a bit cack, even if they do slow the bike well once both pads are on the disc.

I replaced my BB5s with the TRP hyd calipers. Brilliant piece of kit, sooo much better than the BB5s.

The HYRDs do a good job, for cable breaks. Still not a patch on true hydro, at least with standard cables. I am going to swap mine to compresionless when I get the energy up to work out how to swap internal cables, which is supposed to help, but in the mean time HYRD's work well. Its an easy swap. I have gone for HYRD's on the front and stayed with BB5 at the back. The BB5s still lock the back if needed, and you don't need much feal with the back break, but when I had them on the front I had no confidence in them.

On long rides I was finding the BB5s would drag and squeak every 30/40 ks. Drove me up the wall adjusting them all the time, at least the the TRPs there is no need due to twin piston.
