Thinking of getting a Boardman Hybrid for my regular 10 cross-London commute. That way I can retire my 2013 Trek Cobia 29er from commuting duties whilst it's still in good nick, put the knobblies back on and take it down to Swinley. And shave a few minutes off my commute.

I've just noticed that the Team is now reduced to £559 (whilst the the Pro reduced to £800). Looks like they'd both meet my needs eg both have carbon forks and reasonable specs. Obviously you get a better groupset on the Pro (SRAM) and it's a couple of pounds lighter. But is there really much difference?

I'm tempted to get the Team and spend the balance getting my old Seamaster (watch) repaired.

Thoughts from anyone who's made the choice in the past?

How about this...

http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/end-of-line-...

A friend bought a Boardman end of line bike from Halfords yesterday and the offer is great. They let him pick £100 worth of bike bits and they`re free...

He got some Shimano shoes, some cleaning stuff, a new cycling jersey and some other odds and sods.

The bike looks pretty decent too...

Great price. Suspect I might need a medium - will see if i can jump on one at the Halfords on my way home.

You might have to hunt around for stock, he had to travel about 30 to find one in stock but for the money he paid (plus the £100 of goodies) it was worth it.

Raised this with the OH and she want off on one pointing out that I already had two bikes, why get a third, I'd have to sell one of them etc etc etc. It was futile trying to explain that I'd like to have one bike for the commute, another for off road (and back up) and a third as a leave-it-anywhere pub bike.

She then pointed out that we're trying to conserve cash for the house renovation and that this was stupid as I have CTW. "CTW?" I said. "YES" she said. Bingo. Immediate scope creep....

My wife tried the same until I pointed out her hand-bag collection, her shoe collection, her £100 hairdresser visits etc etc.

We eventually reached an agreement that I`m actually very low maintenance and the extra bike arrived around a week later..

Good luck!

If the max CTW voucher is £1,000 will Evans allow you to add to it? There used to be a british cycling deal with Evans too - not sure if there still is?

Yeah, you can top up no probs. Which I would anyway, as the bike's £1000. Isn't it?
