bike sizes

I've seen a bike in the sales that looks great but the only problem is that they have sold out of the large sizes and have only medium left to order in. Looking on the manufacturer web site I can see that they recommend the medium for people up to 5'10, I'm 6'0 so will I look like I've just stolen a clowns bike while riding it? Comparing my current road bike to the bike stats, it seems in some parts almost half way in the middle between the medium and large...

Its a hybrid bike as I'm after one for winter and for messing around and I'm wanting to get it from a small indepentant bike chain, they don't have anything down here to have a sit on as its somewhat of a niche model.
