New MTB helmet

My trusty Fox Flux has served me well over the last 3 years and it's about time to start thinking about changing it.
I've short listed 4, but the problem is actually finding a shop that has them in to try.

The contenders:

Fox Flux

Kali Maya

ISX Trail RS

And finally (pushing the budget (a lot!!):

Bell Super 2R (Star Wars edition.....)

I keep thinking I should just stick with another Flux, but fancy a change.

The Bell has to option of the chin guard which is an added bonus (the fact I can pretend to be a Storm Trooper or Boba Fett is irrelevant.........honest!!)

The Kali seems to get some good reviews and is a bit different.

Others I've looked at but not sure about are:

661 Recon

7 iDP M2

On-One Enduro

I know the correct answer is 'the one that fits the best' but without trying them I can't tell.

Any others I should consider?
If you've got any of the above how do you find the sizing?
I could order a few from CRC and then just return them, but would like to go and try one on somewhere....

I tried the 7idp - found it sat on top of my head with big gap above ears.

Went for the bell in the end without the chinguard... got last years for £70 at Chain R. can still buy a chinguard if needed. Its been awesome but do try one on - im normally a small but was a medium in the Bell.

I tried a small Bell which was just a touch too small annoyingly.
Might try the medium and see how it goes.

Would be nice if the LBS's stocked decent helmets to try on but they all seem pretty poor in variety.

I had the same when buying both my lids. Ended up doing as you suggest and buying a ton from CR/Wiggle and taking advantage of free returns.

I think I tried 9 lids before finding one that fitted me well (and that's most important). I ended up with an IS Trail RS and no problems so far. It's light, well made, fits like a glove, and really well vented. The Fox Flux was an odd fit on my potato head. Same with the Bell. Next best fit was a Troy Lee A1 which fitted really really well but every report I read said how warm it got in the summer. The Poc Just fitted really, really odd, and was really uncomfy.
Order a load, send a load -1 back.

I ended up with a Giro Montaro after trying on the helmets at Leisure Lakes.

I really wanted the Bell Super 2, but it just didn't fit my head at all.

I have a TLD A1. Doesn't really get too hot against my expectation. Best fitting helmet I've had. Like a glove almost.

trouble is every head is different .

Fox was nice too. Bell was fine but not as comfy.

IXS had a stupid pointy bit on the front edge that obscured my view of the trail ahead.

My Montaro fits like a glove, but watch out for the fecking visor screws working loose, it took about 2 weeks to get a replacement.

Have a look at the Troy Lee Designs ones of Chain Reaction which are heavily discounted at the moment.

I've got a TLD downhill lid which is just superb, light, fantastic fit and the design of the airflow keeps my head incredibly cool in the hottest conditions and I don't get a drop of condensation on my goggles . They are head and shoulders above everything else I have ever tried.

Chain reaction and Wiggle do returns easily. My son got to the 7iDP and pulled the tags off to try it on - so the lucky git now has a £70 lid as it fitted.
