I am 61 semi retired and ride soft trail (canal towpaths) 30 miles every 2 days ,using my Boardman hybrid. I also do a couple of hours on roads on my Boardman comp. I love both bikes but thinking now of a decent road bike to take it a bit further. Budget is a grand and would like it to be light .So guys point me in the right direction to the best value for money bikes.

A few shops are already starting their sales, I saw wheelbase had an ad in a few magazines with sale offers. You'd be best to wait a few weeks then see what comes up but don't wait too long as bargains quickly get picked up. Don't rule out anything, they are all much of a muchness at that price.

I've been inundated with sale emails from Evans, Wiggle, Tredz etc. There are some bargains to be had; not in the wife's eyes though as I was told to recommission my Felt F90!

Have a look at GT grades, I got a carbon 105 grade, over your budget though at 1399 after discount but 30% off from wiggle and a local bike shop price matched it.

I will have a look at those thanks guys. If the right bike was a tad over budget that would be OK

Pauls Cycles is always my go-to spot for deals around £1k.

ROSE Pro SL2000 8.3kg and £850. Has some very good reviews for a sub £1000 bike.
