Generally use SIS advanced isolate+ in strawberry for after shorter sessions and have it with porridge after some rides to help recovery and increase overall protein in my diet, or I occasionally use it immediately after a longer session and have an energy gel at the same time as a substitute for REGO recovery....but what would be the difference between that and this stuff

http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/iso-pro/...

The isopro has a higher overall protein content, it has similar amounts of leucine per gram of product....though it doesn't mention BCAA content. the isopro is a fair bit cheaper with their deal on.

Any ideas as to which is the better product? Appreciate SIS is higher cost because of the more rigourous testing for banned substances and, I suspect, you pay a bit for the brand.

Many thanks in advance

I suspect you pay a LOT for the brand.

MP stuff is generally well regarded.

Thanks OKGO, I thought as much. I also use SIS overnight protein quite a lot, and notice myprotein do either "bedtime extreme" or "milk protein smooth"....but what I can't quite understand is that the SIS is almost all milk protein, which is supposedly the slowest of proteins to digest, making it better for overnight recovery; yet with the myprotein stuff the bedtime extreme (which, judging by the name, you'd expect to be better for overnight recovery than milk protein smooth) also contains egg protein which is a bit faster, whereas there "milk protein smooth" seems to be closer in nature to the SIS overnight stuff....

I think when I'm running low on SIS advanced isolate I'll buy the myprotein ISOPRO, but I'm not sure on which product would be a best replacement for SIS overnight protein. Thoughts? May send myprotein an email and see.

Do you tend to use any supplements like these OKGO? I find that they really seem to help!

Cheers mate

Milk or Casein Protein will do generally the same trick as SIS overnight. SIS have become big and like Etixx etc sell on the fact they are a known name across the world. Myprotein/tpw etc keep it simple and sell what you need. If you haven't bought before let me know and I'll send you a referrer code. I've always preferred the protein works taste of products.

I've used MyProtein before but not the other company....?

Cheers

edit - just had a look on their website, as well as a bit more on MyProtein and must say if the products are half decent I'll use those instead of SIS.

MyProtein sell maltodextrin and fructose powders dirt cheap....instead of buying SIS GO energy or High5 energy source I could buy both of those and mix them in the 2:1 ratio at a fraction of the cost, and add whatever flavour squash to give it taste! Much cheaper.

TPW do this

http://www.theproteinworks.com/tpwtm-100-whey-adva...

which seems the best bet for protein use after exercise. I could get some of that and have it with an energy gel (I got st loads in an offer, so need using up!)

and they also do this which I'll use for overnight I think

http://www.theproteinworks.com/bedtime-fuel

Cheaper than SIS by some margin!

Yeh I've got some rego as I got it cheap somwhere. Also have used various protein powders from MP too, generally taste good and such. Whether or not I can tell the difference is a difference question.

I also use MP Alpha Man, D3 supplements, I did notice a large difference when I started taking those. Many people are heavily vit d deficient

Thanks okgo. I often take a complete A-Z multivitamin

http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-A-Z-Complete-Vitamin...

which contains vitamin D, but it doesn't mention D3.

I had to stop using MP after they switched their formula/flavours and became undrinkable. If you're thinking of buying, be sure to check the most recent reviews which will highlight whether the particular protein you go for has been changed.

FWIW, I switched to GoNutrition which was set up by the guy who started and subsequently sold MP. Better flavours, same quality (as the old MP) and cheaper from what I can tell. Maple Syrup and Pancake is nice lick

d3 has a huge dose, the a-z off the shelf are pathetic, there are various bits of research out there that show the RDA for d is anything up to 10X too low at current.

Just waiting for SoliD to get back to me with a referral code and I'll put an order in smile

One thing I'm a bit confused on....what would be the best to consume immediately after exercise? They seem to do loads

http://www.theproteinworks.com/tpw-100-whey-extrem...

http://www.theproteinworks.com/hydrolysed-whey

http://www.theproteinworks.com/tpwtm-100-whey-adva...

By the sounds of it the hydrolysed whey is the fastest absorbing, so would this be the best bet? Going to order their bedtime fuel, tapered day release and one for recovery...just not sure which of those is best to suit my needs really.

All sent.

Generally you'll be fine with some whey 80 and some skimmed milk rather than the expensive stuff.
