My view is that it was the overtaker's fault - she chose to go for an overtake with traffic coming towards her, with no margin for error. She created the situation, not the chap on the Boris Bike.

This.

The problem was the woman.
She tried to overtake someone who was already doing overtaking. he was not far left enough like others for her to be doing any overtaking. There was oncoming traffic too. She overtook the boris biker far too close and with no warning. she clipped his handle bar which caused the whole crash. Perhaps she was blinded by the sunlight and didn't see the oncoming cyclists (but that's no excuse to be overtaking).

On a busy cycle highway like that i don't see the point in rushing. take your time, take it easy. you won't break a sweat and you'll have less stress.

I've got three cars and I also cycle mainly to work up steep hill country lanes , and main roads . I like to think that' when I'm in a car I know how it is for a cyclist and when I'm on the bike I respect what it's like for cars/ lorries etc . What does amaze me is if I dismount or pull right into often wet and spikey hedgerows how few waves or flash from hazard lights I get .
I'll always make a point of doing that to bikes and horses . A simple investment in road p r I find .

Oh yes, the lease thread . . . you're the chap who thinks he got a good deal on a manufacturer's end of line tat. So once again do you take umbrage with a fact presented to you . . . this time even with a nice little film to support it ? Go on, tell us there's a lorry in the video knocking the bicyclists over . . . we've just not seen it because we'e not clever enough, that's it !
