Despite a 7 year campaign of local opposition, the government appointed Planning Inspectorate has approved plans to allow Europa Oil and Gas to explore the Wealden oil deposits which lie underneath The Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty located at Leith Hill, Surrey.

If drilling is allowed to go ahead, several hectares of peaceful woodland will be felled, and a centuries old sunken lane or 'holloway' damaged by the passage of lorries. In places the lane is barely wide enough for a car.

The area is very popular with cyclists, walkers and riders. We need to stand together to protect this special place.

The struggle has stepped up its game as the date for the test drilling to commence approaches, with a number of Protectors occupying the site. Please lend your support.
