Edge 520 you can find them for about £180
Not sure the 520 does full turn by turn Nav. I've just picked up a second hand reconditioned 810 for £160 which whilst being the last generation is at least fairly reliable. Avoid the 820 its garbage. The 1000 is quite big and not without its own issues. Have you tried using your phone first?
There are a number out there that work with ANT+ (my Xperia Z3, for example), and my stress levels have been infinitely lowered by not having to content with bloody awful Garmin reliability, bloody useless Garmin customer service and just generally bloody frustrating Garmin arrogance any more!
It's more than accurate enough for anything I need, and the battery easily lasts 4+ hours even when using it for navigation, which is as much as I'm ever likely to ride without being able to stop and charge it, although I do have a tiny little external charge pack which I can strap to the bars if I need to double the battery life.
