To wait for disc or not..

So as some of you may know, I had tested a Cipollini Bond with rim brakes, to be frank the rim brakes on carbon wheels didn't inspire confidence. I rode a Rose XCW last year with disks and braking was, as you'd imagine, a lot more modular, and required less force from my hands to slow down.

The problem is - I'm set on the bond, its stiff, relatively light, looks good. But discs are 90-120 days away - most of the summer gone....

WHat do I do!? Use my feet and suffer rim brakes when all my counterparts are stopping quicker htan me on disks?!

For a summer/dry weather bike rims should be more than adequate IMO, id buy as is

For winter/wet weather maybe disks, rims are still fine for me though

Are you new to road bikes? When I was new to road bikes years ago a friend I went out with told me was on the brakes far too much, he was right I was

Been on road bikes a few years now, used to disk and rim's but cant help but feel more confident on disks !

Difficult one, im used to all my short rides commuting on well known quiet roads, or all my long rides in a group and if I brake hard in a group i'll have 10 riders on top of me .

Can you not find another bike with disks that is in stock

How long is the bike for? If you're likely to keep it for a decent amount of time (and already have something to ride) then I'd hold out for the version that you really want. Otherwise it'll gnaw away at you and you'll end up buying a replacement sooner than if you'd waited.

Having had discs on my old Trek - which got written off - there is no way I am going back to rim brakes. The discs were great - modular, powerful and reliable - whatever the weather.

Going back to rims would definitely feel like a backwards step.

I'd agree with this, if you're not a serial bike changer, wait and get what you really want. Chances are you'll just end up being slightly sad when you see the version you really wanted.

Get a wheelset with an alloy brake track. The Hed wheels with Turbine 'braking technology' are reckoned to be excellent.
