Came across the Tour Of The Peak on the Cat and Fiddle today. If you are going to organize an event sending a couple of hundred+ cyclists up a very steep bit of road and your are charging them for the privilege; surely it's not too much to ask to put some warning signs up a in a Macclesfield a couple of weeks in advance or even on the day?

I for one would have quite happily chosen a different route if I had known this was happening as it was predictably absolute chaos. Cars overtaking cyclists on blind bends and I had the new experience of being overtaken by a motorbike whilst over taking a pack of cyclists.

to the cyclists who all behaved impeccably the rest of the road users not so much....

I did the Fred Whitton on Sunday. The organisation of that event is fantastic. Signs up the week before warning road users that there are going to be lots of cyclists on the roads, marshals at every junction and descent and best if all, getting Hard Knott and Wrynose Passes closed for the day.

They even arranged for the sun to shine. And then had people giving out sun block!
