Bont Vaypor

Hi all,

It's new shoe time for me. I've been happily wearing a pair of Louis Garneau shoes (xtr2 i think) for the last 4 years. They aren ow in need of replacing.

A certain online retailer is doing what seems like a good price on Bont Vaypors. (NOT the S) The shape looks good for my foot but there are mixed reviews. I know shoes are incredibly personal but does anyone have any experience of them?

I do a mix of longer rides at weekend and shorter with some interval training in the week. Approx 200-250 km a week (depending how i feel at the weekend

Ive got slightly wide feet but nothing freakish, the LG's have been snug width wise but no issues, ive done 100 milers in them etc with no problems.

I use Bont Vaypours after making the switch to Bont around 2 years ago.

I've got a high instep and need a wide fit, for me they are great.

Stiff but comfortable and you can tease any niggles out through the heat moulding process.

Thanks Matt. Sounds like they might fit the bill from your description. How did you find their sizing?

Pretty good, I used the size 'wizard' paper method and match my normal shoe size.

I did try a few pairs on though, the at the time UK distributor (Saddleback now ZyroFisher) are just down the road from me.

I'm a Bont convert, currently got 4 pairs!

Maybe order two sizes and send them back?

Have had a few pairs of those, (wiggle I guess?) - they're good. IMO they're far better than the new versions, the fastening ratchet is very effective, and beats the boa thing hands down.

The heat moulding process IMO is good, but I found I needed to go hotter than what bont suggested.

Yeh that's what I found too, 70c isn't really enough to get the resin soft enoug, 80c or so and around 3-4 heat moulds and mine were good to go.
