Any pointers on who to insure with? Figure my new baby needs insuring against someone walking off with it or me binning it big time!

I cycle in UK and overseas (Europe) so needs to cover both.

You might be able to cover it under your Home policy. You haven't said the value but TSB will cover up to £3.5k.

I did a quote on Wiggle the other day, quoted the price of the bike as I bought it and the set of wheels I've since added. Put down worldwide cover as I do travel on holiday with it and the Sportive cover, came out at about £840 a year! I've done other checks with other insurance companies with much the same result...

Sod that, if it gets trashed or a scrote takes a liking to it I'll buy something else which is shinier. It is insured by my house insurance, but it's limited to only a partial cost of my bike(s).

I tried a couple of providers and for two bikes (3k and 5k) it came out at 1k a year. That put me off.

Pedalcover are a specialist bike/home insurance provider. My contents/bikes cover comes to about £350/year, includes travel and some types of competition cover.

I've put three £3k bikes on my home insurance with The AA (including cover whilst away from the home) and it bumped the premium up by £50 or thereabouts.

I've got mine insured with Bikmo

Covers everything when I'm out and about. If I crash I can claim for all my clothing, helmet etc.
For my Ohs and mine (joint value of ~3k) it's £18 a month

I'm with Bikmo too for the Brompton. They were less expensive than adding the bike to the house insurance and the cover seems to cover more as posted above.

I need to look into insurance, as will hopefully be getting a new bike this month. My existing < £500 bike is covered on house insurance, but new bike wouldn't be. I'm shocked at how expensive insurance is looking - almost as much as house/conents insurance for one item!

I did some research into bike insurance today and don't think I'm going to bother with it.

It won't cover my bike in my garage.
It won't cover my bike on the roof of my car.
It looks like it will only cover my bike if it gets stolen while I'm riding it, in which case over £20 per month seems a bit steep.

+1 for Pedal Cover, been with them the last 2yrs, customer service was great and price including buildings and contents was a little more than I had previously paid without the cycle cover. Worth a look.

I'm hearing good things about pedal cover from a friend who recently stacked his Scott Foil at ToC trashing front and rear zipps in the process. Insures all his bikes and his house for 350 a year.
