Don't want N expensive garmin or even an I watch just something that will record basic activity but also records riding well

Basic research suggests the charge 2 or blaze. Anyone tried either of them for cycling, mostly mtb.

I use my blaze for recording my rides. Mostly on road. It does a good job, tracks, and shows, HR, distance, time, current speed, average speed, everything you could need really. You can also change tracks if you listen to music and get notifications for your phone. Data can transfer to strava.

The negatives, it records inaccurate extra steps from bumps, but this does not affect calories burned, and depending on your gloves and wrist shape it is possible to accidentally pause the ride.

Do either of those ave GPS? The Fitbit Surge has GPS built in an a "ride" setting. Rides can easily be uploaded to Strava.

There's a lot to like about he Surge, but I have our it a little flaky. Main complaint is usually that the strap breaks quite quickly and Fitbit don't do a replacement, although you can buy a replacement on eBay.

I have a TomTom Spark which I picked up from Currys a few months back for £89.99 - its got GPS and tracks activity, sleep etc through the day. I thought it was a bit bulky at first but I have got used to it now.

I don't generally use the GPS for cycling as I have a Garmin, but for walking etc. it works well. I have an external Bluetooth HRM which connects to it also.

I used to have a FitBit Charge HR, the features I miss from that are the silent alarm, call notifications and the fact it had a built in HRM albeit it wasn't 100% accurate.

Battery life of the Spark is probably twice as good as the Fitbit, I generally get a couple of weeks worth out of a charge, the fitbit was about 5 days.

I had a Fitbit Surge which has built in GPS and is quite good for tracking rides, it's battery will only last about 3-4 hours with GPS mode enabled though. I've now switched to a Blaze which uses your phone for location, this means that the battery on the watch doesn't get hammered and your phone's battery usage is similar to what you'd expect when using Strava with the screen switched off. Speaking of Strava, Fitbit will syncs with it so you can still track your rides on there smile

If you complain to Fitbit support, they'll have a new one out to you next day (free of charge)!

Just pop Strava on your phone and let it sync?

Cool thanks. I think I'll try the cheaper Fitbit then and try syncing with strava as that's more than enough!
