Presume the lorry driver can't wait the cyclist. They should have mirrors fitted to he them see other road users.

The Cyclist was lucky and put himself in a dangerous situation the other female cyclists had the common sense to hang back.

Committed cyclist and cycle commuter here

Bike is in the turn left lane and lorry in the correct lane to go straight on
Bike also obviously in lorry's blind spot

Nothing else to say really

Be careful out there!

Lorry driver has a point but if you know they are likely going to be there why take the risk.

Why was the truck driver accelerating like that, when he could clearly see there were cyclists, and there was a shrinking space between him and the kerb? Sorry, that's the truck driver's fault. That cyclist would have been clearly visible to him, if he'd bothered to look.

0:12, the cyclist in red is completely ahead of the truck - the bike's back wheel is fully on the yellow of the box junction, the truck's bumper isn't quite on.
0:16, the cyclist is again completely ahead.
0:17, still fully ahead, and now almost completely in line with the truck. There's another cyclist only just ahead, and the truck's still accelerating and closing left.
0:18, the instant his brake lights come into shot, they're on - but he's still moving left, into the kerb. His tyre is actually on the red line before he starts to move right.

When the truck driver starts shouting, he seems to be very well aware that the cyclists were all in the left-turn-only lane...

I count nine cyclists, including the camera, waiting for the lights - and only five of them ahead of the guy in red.

The cyclist is at fault and an idiot. Road markings and laws don't apply to cyclists anymore?

I happened to cycle that junction (for the first time) last night. It's a dangerous spot. It looks like the two straight on lanes merge into one, shortly after the junction. So the lorry driver would have been having to manage merging his artic into the single lane in competition with cars on his right...as well as cyclists coming up In the left turn lane and then going straight on.

Cyclist put himself in a dangerous position, in my view. If that had been me, I'd have hung back OR accelerated FF in order that the driver could see me.

Further up the embankment it's all cycles lanes. Hopefully coming to that part soon as well.

This whole "I got you on camera mate" thing is getting a bit like, I go for a ride hoping to film an anti cyclist person. Sorry, I just find the whole thing pathetic.
I am both a cyclist and a fuel burning car fan. I just find these cycle warriors a bit of a pain.
Sponsor of Triathlon etc, but seriously guys, calm down! I'm not sure you go out for a ride but rather looking for agro?
Awaits flaming!

I deal with that haulage company, know them to be an ok outfit with decent standards. Little bit 50/50 for me. Cyclists filtering up a left turn lane not great but the river could have had better awareness although was entitled to press on, I didn't notice a wally mirror on the cab either which would have made a difference. Might be wrong about that, open to correction on the mirror.

or

0:01 all the cyclists are in the lane where they must turn left
Truck is in the correct lane to go straight ahead
0:08 eight cyclists pull away before the light goes green
0:09 all the cyclists go straight ahead when they should have gone left. Some position themselves in the trucks blindspot.
Truck goes ahead in correct lane.

It doesn't matter who was right or wrong, when you're squashed by a truck, you're squashed. Don't ride so you can be squashed.

0.12 yes cyclist ahead but never got far enough left or ahead of the lorry to get out of his blind spot
0.16 again lorrys do have blind spots around the cab
0.18 brake lights are on because the lorry driver can see the cyclist in the black who is far enough ahead to be seen by the driver, so lorry driver taking care and giving what he can only assume is the last cyclist space, Hence the brake lights
The camera is at a angle not in line and to the left of the kerb edge so while the lorry stayed stright on it looks to the camera it was drifting left. lines on road tell you lorry was stright aqnd cyclists had to drift right to get out of turn left lane.

cyclist put himself in the danger area by not being fast enough or far enough to the left or ahead that the lorry driver could see him.

There's one above the door, looking down. There's one above the nearside of the windscreen, looking down.

No need to await anything, you're right.

When I take over, all belligerent bicyclists with a YouTube channel will be boxed up and dumped in the South Atlantic.

I say this as a keen cyclist and driver who's intolerant of bell ends from both camps. It's entirely the cyclists fault. He's in the wrong lane; in the blind spot of the lorry driver; would be far more aware of the lorry than the lorry of him. It's quite simple really... Don't think your safety as a cyclist is everyone else's concern and none of yours. Abide by the rules of the road and be aware of other road users. If a car was there no one here would have any sympathy so why should it be any different for a cyclist. When I am on my bike I queue in line like everyone else.

Quite.

How can anyone blame the lorry driver is beyond me - but there's always one...
No way the driver could see the guy in red, who should have bailed out instead of literally swerving into the truck. What did he expect ?

It annoys me when twonks like that give cyclists a bad name.

From what I saw:

The truck driver wouldn't be expecting there to be any more cyclists in front of him or coming up the side of him than the 3-5 that are clearly positioned out in front of the junction as they all set off. They are the ones that got out in front quickly, and he would be able to see them fine once they got a good car length or so in front of him.

The rest are all sat squarely in the 'left turn' lane, so you wouldn't expect them to attempt to go straight on, or to then come across beside you into the right lane.

The cyclists from the left turn lane then all try to come alongside the truck to go straight on, and there is NO WAY, the driver would have been able to see them from the cab. Absolutely no way.

It's a DAF XF and one of the worst for seeing cyclists or pedestrians standing nearby.

He clearly slows slightly as he approaches the 3 or more that he can see up ahread, but it totally unaware of the guy in red until he's hit the truck door.

The driver is right though, this is why cyclists get killed.

How many times do HGV drivers have to tell cyclists that THEY CAN'T fkING SEE THEM.

We've all seen the videos showing how little you can see out of a truck cab yet for some reason cyclist seem to forget it and place themselves where they can't be seen.

As a keen motorist and a keen cyclist id say both acted like planks but the Cyclist was in the wrong in terms of fault.

Like others above im also growing tired of these self righteous twonks going around filming everything

Completely the cyclists fault. The lorry driver was positioned in the correct part of the road, the straight on lane, and committed to this by going straight on. The cyclists were in the left turn lane with a view to chancing going straight on by out dragging the truck, which they failed to do. Their gamble failed, which is what happens when you gamble, it can go against you.

The man on the bike was in the wrong, I certainly wouldn't stick myself in that position to save a few seconds - Darwinism in action.

I'm on the fence with having cameras, personally I don't use one, although I have enough of these types of incidents during the course of any year to consider getting one, more for insurance/injury claim. Had similar tonight to the video below with an idiot in some sort of small stmobile.
