Trek 5200 Rear hanger sheared off

Can anyone help. I have an old Trek 5200 USPS frame that the rear hanger has sheared just below the wheel mount lugs. I am looking at using this for a single speed project but cannot find a way of tensioning the chain. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Half link chain might get you close but I think you'll need to weld some sort of hanger back on with plenty of heat barrier to protect the carbon joint. Doesn't need to be pretty does it?

They attach to the hanger though, and unfortunately the OP's non-replaceable hanger has snapped. OP, you could try a tensioner in conjunction with one of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-emergency-rear-de... but I think the best option will be a half link chain.

Ah, the link I copied mentioned it uses the vertical drop outs not the gear hanger, is it not the case then?

Actually yes it fits behind the qr.

Thanks all for your help. The half link as a start is a. Good idea and possibly with a mod to the emergency hanger as a solution. Better get started with the project!
