Up this morning early and out the door by 6am. Knee warmers, arm warmers and a windproof gilet on frown I think it was a bit warmer but my Garmin had it at around 9.5 degrees.

Hate this time of year in the sense that it's generally downhill now until Christmas!

Still nice and warm during the days, but early mornings are definitely getting more towards the chilly side unfortunately!

Have a great day everyone hehe

Nah its just a cold spell... Im up earlier, 5am alarm for 5.20 out of the door and the only difference I can notice is that its certainly getting darker in the mornings! A month ago I could be on the bike at 5.00-5.10 and it be perfectly light - although now you'd need a light on for the first 15-20mins if you wanted to live...

I dont know if you are up north and its much colder than down here in Somerset, but Im out in shorts and short sleeve jersey... slightly chilly for about 60secs until the blood gets going, but then its fine!

Admittedly it was just before 7 when I set off but still in shorts and tee shirt in Nottingham.

I am down South so it's a little warmer, although I'm a skinny sod (54-55kgs.....but only 5ft 6) with a very low body fat percentage which doesn't help! By the time I got to work it was a fair bit warmer, but yes....at about 6am it certainly wasn't shorts/short sleeve jersey for me today!

Just ride harder , you soon warm up

Although I agree it is colder first thing, I like it wakes me up

quite a few out in full winter gear my way....leggings and long sleeve winter tops and gillet, a fair few

Out of principle I stick to shorts and short sleeve jersey ...that way rain is guaranteed

I admit I put a gilet on over my jersey this morning, but still had the shorts and only the one pair of socks! I'm down on the south coast and at 6 am it was a little cooler than it has been, but I expect it will warm up again even if only for a few days. Central Italy in two weeks will be a different kettle of fish!

This, it's August not November.

August is typically the warmest, and 2nd driest month of the year in the UK, it just isn't today, even September is statically warmer than May and June.

Come back at the end of Oct when the clocks go back we'll all have a little cry together.

Or just get up at a more reasonable time! 5am what are you all milkmen?

My cycle into work is around 20 miles, and I need to get there by 0715 or so to make sure I'm showered and had some food before starting the day!

RE "ride harder".....bit of a daft comment, can't ride hard all the time. I take my easier days easier and my harder days harder. If you ride harder on the days before doing some real hard/intense stuff, the intense stuff isn't as productive. Plus, I don't fancy cycling hard at 6am having just woken up and having an 11-12 hour shift at work.
