Just looking at syncroshift vs semi syncroshift.... With semi if you change the front derailleur it adjusts the rear; with full syncroshift if you shift up lots when in the small ring it'll then automatically move the front mech and shift down at the rear and vice versa when shifting down..... But when in full syncroshift mode do you know whether it still shifts the rear mech of you change the front mech, as it does in semi syncroshift mode?

Thanks for those. I'm not sure which I'd prefer to be honest. What have you gone with? Obviously syncroshift effectively renders the left lever fairly redundant, no?
Is it quite easy to shift between modes?? How do you go about doing that? Button on the unit, or hook up to laptop (usb) or phone (Bluetooth)?

I like the novelty of fully-synchro which turns the 11 speed cassette in to virtually a 14 speed as it's currently set to do a correction shift of 2 gears at the rear when the front auto shifts. Having only had mechanical prior I've always done a double click up / down on the rear when changing the front ring to smooth out the change. If you do decide to use the left shifter changing the front ring when you want, you just need to do a double tap on the right to smooth out the change, so no change.
With semi-syncro, although it performs the rear correction shift of 2 gears when you change the front, you only have access to 9 of the 11 gears as it won't let you go in to the smallest 2 if you stay in the small front ring, which I suppose is a good thing, as I'm sure a lot of us may have developed a bad habit of cross chaining.
Changing mode is just a double press on the unit button to go between manual, semi & fully modes, although you can go one step further and have 2 fully-syncro modes, or 2 semi-syncro modes also with different gear change characteristics for each one.

Cheers. When you press the button on the unit how do you know what mode it's in? Sorry for so many questions!
I am running 105 10 speed at the moment and I never go into 8th-10th if I'm in the small ring, or 1st-3rd using the big ring so I've always been in that habit. I think I'll have a play around when I get it which won't be long now (see Canyon thread!).... Curious how you know what mode it's in.

I use full synchro shift most of the time. While that means the left shifter doesn’t get used much it’s good to have as an emergency option. I thought it would adjust the rear if required but I must be mistaken.
However I do have a ‘winter gloves’ version of synchronised shift set up. Both right buttons shift down and both left buttons shift up. Ideal for those days when you have gloves so chunky you can barely feel the shifters. Guaranteed to push one of the buttons.

I've got a lot to learn about how to do all of this! Is it easiest to change modes/set ups by using a laptop, or is the phone app any good? I presume you use the Etube app (phone or laptop)

When you double press the button on the junction box a solid red light indicates it's in manual mode, double press the button again and the red light blinks twice indicating mode 1, which you can customize as fully-synchro or semi-synchro, double press the button again and the red light blinks three times indicating mode 2, which again can be customized as fully-synchro or semi-synchro.I am running 105 10 speed at the moment and I never go into 8th-10th if I'm in the small ring, or 1st-3rd using the big ring so I've always been in that habit. Similar to m444ttb, but I've programmed the tops buttons so left is change down, and right is change up.

Nope, you either need to plug it in using the charger to a laptop or get the bluetooth d-fly. I always found the bluetooth ropey and sold it on and got a diag kit instead which has been worth its weight in gold.Ah didn't realise that. I was going to have my Garmin display the battery level, but I guess this is out for the time being!! No biggy, I can just set my phone to do a reminder once per month or something. With my bike (Canyon Aeroad - being delivered within a day!) the unit is situated under the stem/bars, so I'm not sure if it's very easy to access or not. Time will very soon tell.
