I've just bought a 2nd had one of these....

It's a 2016 Specialized Sirrus Disc Comp

This will be for a commute so I think mudguards would be a good idea.

Apart from the plug 'n play Specialized set for £50 (which is a bit much) any ideas what else would fit?

I think these look good...

Comments? Recommendations?

Tyres are 700X30c so presumably I would need the 35c versions?

I'm a complete rookie when it comes to road biased bikes usually staying well off the road.

Do the forks have mudguard mounts? You may need to bend the stay round the front brake calliper if they are at the dropout but its usually not a problem.

I have one of them, great bike. I previously had a few years old Sirrus that got nicked. I tried one of those bolt on rear mudguards on that and it was a waste of space so binned it. Can’t help apart from that probably obvious advice sorry.

I have these and would recommend: https://www.evanscycles.com/sks-wide-road-mudguard...

I'm sure the ones you linked to would be similarly well built, albeit the stays connect only in one place, rather than two, so perhaps they'd be slightly less rigidly fixed. Yes, you'd need the 35mm versions.

And I agree that you need to check what fittings the fork has; it's hard to see from the photo.

Any of the SKS range should do the job, just have a look at the dimensions. The good thing is they can be 'made' to fit quite easily, they're a sandwich construction, you can trim down without removing the structural integrity - I had to shape around the front derailleur and seat stays with a dremel on my croix de fer.

You might need something like these on the front, I'm assuming the mounts are on the back of the fork?

save your monies, go to poundland and pick up yourself a set and be done with it...
does the job and not terrible quality unlike most other $hitland stuff.

One thing I forgot about the PoundLand mudguards - unscrew and refit the screws/bolts with ThreadLock, or else they'll come loose over time.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I'll go for the sks hybrid ones (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sks-commuter-hybrid-mudguards/).

The on-one guards look good value but without fittings and I simply don't have time to faff around. The poundland ones may be worth a look for my full susser rather than a hybrid.

The fitting on the forks are facing into the wheel so I may need the adapters mentioned earlier.

Thanks all. Looking forward to my new foray into road riding and being able to join the cycle to work thread!

If you want mudguards to fit over 35mm tyres you'll want 45mm ones. Like the ones in the Evans link.
