At this time of year, why not just go out on the roads?

Dumb or smart trainer? (Do you want the resistance controlled by an app on your iPad etc)?

If you just want a dumb trainer where resistance is controlled by wheel speed (ie you use your gears) then I’d highly recommend the kinetic road machine 2. Built like tanks and fluid resistance unit so really smooth, especially with the extra flywheel bolted on.

Whole load of info on recent thread here:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

If its a cheap entry level smart trainer to get you into zwift (which was what i wanted) then the TACX Flow has been great for me and can be had for around £180 from Halfords if you are a British Cycling member (£200 normal price). Heres my review / setup video:

If you give us your rough budget that'd be nice smile

I've got a Wahoo Kickr and absolutely love it.

I had/have rollers which i love for the feel but wanted a smart trainer as realistically its a bit dull on a trainer/rollers.......

I didnt want to spend the earth so i got an elite novo, which is great with zwift and bloody hard work up the hills!
The same trainer is available from decathlon too but white and from other places called qubo digital smart b+ with a different mount.
mine was about £160 on special offer, my mate tried it and bought one too. A colleague has a tacx flow which he rates.
Cheers
Clive

Dont rule out buying a used Kurt Kinetic Road Machine, either in dumb or smart form. I just sold mine for nearly half your budget. It was easily the best roller trainer I'd used, compared with the likes of the Elite fluid and Cycleops Fluid. Theyre sealed units so should never leak. Heavy piece of kit but pretty much bombproof. The pro-flywheel is a superb addition

No idea where you are, but I have a Tacx for sale in Coventry if you're interested. Includes the riser for the front wheel. No need to prop the bike up on bricks / disused telephone books!
